Kwinana Athletics Centre celebrated its inaugural season in 1975/76 and was originally named Kwinana Little Athletics Centre.
It catered for Athletes in the U7 to U13 age groups and was formed by five different clubs: Hills, Calista, Orelia/Medina and North Parmelia.
The name Kwinana is a Kimberley Aboriginal word meaning either “young woman” or “pretty maiden”. The ship SS Kwinana was wrecked on Cockburn Sound in 1922 and blown onto Kwinana Beach. The nearby area acquired the name and it was officially adopted for a township in 1937. Kwinana Athletics Centre then took on the townships name with a deep connection to the town and it’s people.
As of August 2025 Kwinana Athletics Centre became a One Club and caters for all ages above 5 years. With competition held every week in the Summer Season (Oct-Mar) and selected Saturdays in the Winter Season (Apr-Aug).
